ARRANGER/ORCHESTRATOR
As a commissioned arranger I can set any piece of music any way you would like it. My specialty is creating exciting new twists to familiar songs, but I am also quite experienced in highlighting the original intents of standards or long-lost musical gems. I can create something as simple as finding the right key and setting for your favorite ballad,
or something as unusual as taking a sweet song like the Muppet's "One More Sleep Til Christmas" and turning it into a rousing Salsa street party. If you need something for the studio, the stage or nightclub, I can give you what you need.
As an orchestrator, I can also give you whatever sound or style you desire - my personal style has been greatly influenced by the work of Peter Matz, Nelson Riddle, Robert Russell Bennett and Jonathan Tunick, but I can create any musical flavor that meets your needs.

ENDORSEMENTS
David Duvall is a master arranger who can work in many different styles and genres. I have done a number of sessions for him as a guitarist. What impresses the most about David is the authenticity he acheives in his arrangements. Whether it calls for intense vocals, Big Band, symphonic, or the most exotic ethnic specialty sound for a PBS special, he is able to handle all of these with ease and great attention to detail.![]()

As an arranger, David finds the core of the musical moment at hand and creates everything you need to make that moment complete. More than just finding your key, he find ways to coax things out of you that you didn't know were possible... either in you or the song. The arrangements of Bonnie Raitt's "I CAN'T MAKE YOU LOVE ME" and Prince's "KISS" that he created for me are pure perfection....and his ability to combine songs for a medley is beyond belief.![]()
- Laurie Clothier, nightclub entertainer
David's orchestrations provide a rich, full foundation from which the vocalists can soar - which is exactly what Peter provided in each of his orchestrations.![]()

widow of renown arranger/orchestrator Peter Matz
David Duvall created the vocal arrangements and helped set many of the musical scores that I composed for Seattle Children's Theatre over the past 20 years. When I wrote the score for "SLEEPING BEAUTY" he created and recorded beautiful orchestral accompaniments - which was the first time my music had ever been performed with a symphonic feel. Whether scoring my music for just himself live on solo piano, a small jazz combo or a full symphonic soundtrack, David always managed to use his arranging talents to heighten the mood I had intended each musical number to have and keep the flavor of each show unique - never imposing his own taste as a composer, always making sure the music sounded like I was the one who composed it while perfectly adapting it to the cast that had to perform it.![]()
